Established in Genova in 1966 as Ansaldo Meccanico Nucleare SpA, in 1999 it became a division of Ansaldo Energia, and on 1 November 2005 it was transformed into an independent Company wholly owned by Ansaldo Energia.
Ansaldo Nucleare covers all nuclear activities from the production of critical high-tech components to the design and construction of new builds, from decommissioning to advanced research on radwaste management, Fusion, IVth Generation plants and Small Modular Reactors.
Ansaldo Nucleare also has in place collaborations with Research Centers and Universities, offering public/private partnership opportunities to bridge the gap between fundamental research and industrial applications.
Ansaldo Green Tech was established in 2021 to focus on the renewable energy business. As an Ansaldo Energia spinoff, it inherited state-of-the-art technologies and competences.
Ansaldo Green Tech is driven by three imperatives: innovate energy to accelerate the pace towards CO2-free power generation, optimize the production and storage of electricity, and smooth the transition avoiding waste of resources, inefficencies and disruption.
In May 2022, Ansaldo Green Tech signed two important agreements:
- with Ansaldo Energia’s long-standing partner ENI to develop projects based on innovative technological solutions for electricity storage as an alternative to electrochemical batteries,
- with the international energy operator Engie for the construction of green hydrogen production plants.
